A Line That Divides

Making a human 100 meridian near Reydon, Oklahoma

Date: Nov 26-28, 2014
Where: Erick, Texola, Sweetwater, Cheyenne, Reydon, and Elk City along the 100 meridian in Oklahoma

The 100th Meridian West passes through North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. In the USA the 100th Meridian marks the divide between the precipitation-rich eastern part of the country and the arid western part. The west Texas and Oklahoma were ground zero for the dustbowl, an incident that reflects many of our concerns for the future. The artists also wish to celebrate the 100th Meridian’s role as the first section of a worldwide Greenbelt Meridian.
